Sodium lactate is a water-soluble product that acts as a natural moisturizer, humectant, and PH regulator for use in soaps, lotions, shampoo, and other bath and body products. It is a viable alternative to vegetable glycerin in many lotion formulations and can be used in cold process soap making to harden the soap for a better finished product. We suggest using ½ oz to 1 oz of sodium lactate per pound of soap oils. this product is sold by volume but one gallon weighs approximately 11 lbs. Our sodium lactate is packaged in an opaque, white HDPE plastic bottle to reduce exposure to sunlight. We recommend storing it in an airtight container in a cool, dark place for best results.

No Issues

"One of my favorite ingredients to. use in CP soap. No issues at all with this sodium lactate from NG, and the price is fair."

Sodium Lactate

"It's easy to pour. Easy to store. And the price is great. I've checked other places. . . wow! They're expensive! I like what S. L. does to my soap bars. . . it really does help them harden during the cure."

A Must Have

"I use sodium lactate in all of my soaps. A few fragrances that I love seem to slow down the hardening process in CP soap so I started using it for those particular scents. This salt helps to harden those bars so now I use it in every soap."

Sheree E. (5/5)

Perfect every time

Tina R. (5/5)

Game changer

"Been having to wait 1to2 weeks, now can unmold the next day"

George (5/5)

holy cow I had no idea

"I have been soaping since 2018 and never used this but recently I've started needing to unmold faster for production and this cuts down on time so efficiently. I will never soap without it again"

Great!

"I used sodium lactate for the first time recently. I was trying to add as few ingredients to my soaps as possible but now I will never make soap again without it. I'm a little impatient (okay, a lot) and have a bustling soap business. Sodium lactate hardens the soap bars enough to take them out of the mold in exactly 24 (okay, maybe 22) hours with no soap left on the mold at all. I'm sold."

Sheree Z. (5/5)

Did exactly what it should

"I made 2 cold process soap batches on Sunday, same recipe (fragrance being the only difference). First batch I COMPLETELY forgot about the SL (big mistake). Second batch added 1. 5 tsps for my small 2 pound batch. The first batch is still sticky in the mold it's Tuesday evening. Second batch was unmolded Monday (early evening) and was nice and firm. Love this stuff!"
