Q&A

I'm confused. The webpage says fragrance usage 5% for soap. But the IFRA download document says 9.23% for category 9 (soaps, etc.). Which is correct? The usage for scents usually matches the IFRA download. For example, basil fragrance oil usage for soap says 2.42% on both the webpage and in the IFRA download pdf. No difference, so no confusion with that one.
Both are correct -- the IFRA lists the maximum amount that can safely be used in an application, while our recommendation is based on what you might actually use in your formulation, as most soap recipes use no more than ~3% - 6% fragrance.
Can you use all the oils for making laundry detergent or is there only certain one?
Most of our fragrance oils can be used in multiple applications. The IFRA document for each fragrance oil lists its maximum safe usage limit, so you will first refer to the appropriate IFRA category (usually Category 10A or 12), and you will need to test for compatibility and performance in your recipe.
Do I have to mix the oils with anything to put in a bottle for a room diffuser with reeds? If so, then how much and with what?
You can use our Reed Diffuser Base and fragrance oil. This fragrance has a max usage rate of 9.2% (IFRA Category 10A), so consider a fragrance oil that has a higher usage rate closer to the recommended Reed Diffuser Base ratio of 25% - 50% fragrance.
