Measurements are off

"Project took 2 hours and I had way too much red and green wax at the end. With better measurement you could have 7-8 completed clamshells vs 6 and a told of left overs. looks great and smells wonderful! Just needs a little tweaking 🥰"

Q&A

For this project, what's the best way to remove the tiny wax cubes from the mold? I let the red wax set up for 2 hours, and I then put the mold back in the freezer for 30 minutes. I had a terrible time getting the cubes out of the mold; the wax was still very sticky and soft. Only about half of the cubes were usable. I had enough red wax left over to fill up four extra wax clamshell molds, and 4 green. Would it help to warm the mold prior to pouring the in the wax to help remove the cubes? Also, do we use the entire mold for just the red cubes and then remove those, and then after cleaning the mold, fill that same mold for just the green cubes? Or, do we really need two molds in each kit- one for the green cubes and a separate one for the red cubes? Or, do we fill the one mold provided with half red cubes and half with green cubes? I didn't really do very well using the pipettes. The pipettes kept clogging, and it took forever to get the wax into each cube cavity. Thank you!
Hi Leda, you just need to allow the mini cubes longer to set. The best order of operations is to prepare and pour one color of mini cubes (red or green), allow it to set, unmold, and then prepare and pour the other color. You can pour into the mold rather than using the pipettes if you'd prefer.
Do we use the entire silicone mold for each of the two colors? Thank you!
Hello, you prepare your red and green wax for the cubes separately and fill the mold with one color at a time. Once one color has set, you will unmold those cubes and proceed with the next color.
