Lemongrass and Ginger Hot Process Soap Recipe

20. 50 grams Castor Oil

21. 50 grams Jojoba Oil

22. 15 grams Ginger Root Powder (mixed with a small amount of oil)

28. Step 1: Prior to beginning this recipe, you will need to create a lemongrass infusion. We infused our cut and sifted lemongrass in sweet almond oil. The sweet almond oil with lemongrass infusion was then used in this recipe. If you are unfamiliar with the infusion process, click here to learn about the process we used.

29. Step 2: Once you have prepared your infusion, you are ready to begin. Clean & Sanitize your work area and all of your packaging materials. It is suggested that you wear gloves, protective clothing, a face mask, safety glasses, and a hair net while preparing this recipe.

30. Step 3: In one bowl, weigh out the appropriate amounts of the shea butter, sweet almond oil, avocado oil, mango butter, coconut oil 76, castor oil, and jojoba oil.

31. Step 4: Turn your crockpot on low heat. Place all of your oils and butters into the crockpot. Heat this until all of the ingredients are in a liquid state.

32. Step 5: While your ingredients are melting, weigh out your lye and water. Additionally, weigh out the ginger root powder and mix it with enough sweet almond oil to create a paste consistency. Finally, weigh out your fragrance oil.

33. Step 6: Prepare your lye solution. Slowly add small amounts of the lye to the water, stirring in between the addition of the lye to the water. NEVER add the water to the lye!

34. Step 7: Slowly add the lye solution to the crockpot. Stir slowly.

35. Step 8: Grab your stick blender and start to blend the mixture in the crockpot. Using a stick blender, stir the mixture until the mixture reaches trace. This will appear almost as if it has the same consistency as pudding. You will know that it is truly trace when you are able to use the mixture to draw a "line", and watch as the mixture leaves a trace of the line you just made.

36. Step 9: At this time, with the crockpot on a low setting, place a lid on the pot and allow the soap to cook, stirring periodically.

38. Step 11: Once your mixture starts to appear as if it is mashed potatoes, it is time to prepare your mold. This cooking time will vary, this is all dependent upon your crockpot, but this usually takes about an hour.

39. Step 12: While stirring the mixture add the ginger root powder and fragrance oil. Continue to stir until everything is fully blended.

40. Step 13: Ensure that your mold is on a flat surface. Then, in a scooping manner, start to fill the mold.

41. Step 14: Once all of your cavities of the mold are filled, you will want to hit the mold against the countertop. Performing this step will release any bubbles of air that may be trapped in your soap mixture.

42. Step 15: Cover your soap. Once the soap is covered, it is time to let it cool and harden. This generally takes about 12 hours or so.

43. Step 16: Once your soap is completely cooled and hardened, it is time to pop the soap out of the mold. Next, cut the soap loaf using your mitre box and cutter for mitre box. It is now ready to use! For harder bars of soap, allow soap to cure longer.
