A fragrance oil by Nature's Garden Crafts- Absinthe, also referred to as "The Green Fairy", is an anise-flavored, highly alcoholic beverage derived from the distillation of various herbs; including wormwood. Absinthe was once banned around the world because it was portrayed as a dangerously addictive psychoactive drug that produced hallucinations, but this vilification of the liquor was never verified. The ban on absinthe was lifted in the USA in 2007, and the sales of absinthe have skyrocketed since that time. Traditionally, absinthe is prepared by placing a sugar cube on top of a specially designed perforated spoon. Absinthe is placed in the glass below, and ice-cold water is drizzled slowly over the sugar cube. The resulting liquid is cloudy in appearance. A modern method, The "Bohemian Method" is another method of preparing absinthe for consumption. This method involves setting the sugar cube on fire before drizzling the ice-cold water over the sugar cube. The sugar cube is soaked in absinthe prior to its lighting. Obviously, our fragrance oil is not to be consumed. We believe we have captured the taste of absinthe in the smell of our Absinthe fragrance.

So spicy-So good!

"This was my first signature wax melt i created and it's still very popular years later! All my spicy customers love it!! It's very warm without it punching your tear ducts and very strong throw in wax melts!"

Tricky, But Wonderful Scent

"I've used Absinthe FO for several years and it's always a favorite with customers, but my Lime Absinthe soap is my sister's favorite! It rices, accels and discolors so I soap cool ( 85- 90 F), bring just to emulsion, split the batter in half, use no color, and have my husband pour the FO while I whisk like a mad woman, then quickly pour. I add lime FO to the 2nd half of the batter (which behaves very nicely), color it lime green, then pour over top. I always prop my mold so I get a diagonal line between the brown and green. It's simple, but striking when cured. For my soap recipe, the lower temp has made all the difference in keeping the ricing and accel at a minimum. Having a pour buddy helps too! Since I make a large batch for my sister every year for her birthday, the ricing and accel battle are worth it! This is a terrific FO that blends well with any fruit scent, you just have to be prepared to tackle it's behavior."

OMG!

"I adore this fragrance! It's so unique and has a fresh spiciness to me. To my nose there is no true Absinthe scent per se, and I do pick up a tiny bit of cinnamon, but other notes seem to disguise the blend so well and complex. It's been a main scent in my line for a few yrs now. Both men and women like it. I only HP my soap with this one."

Earthy, Herby, Spicy Goodness

"Wow. This FO is fabulous, I wanted a nice earthy/spicy masculine leaning fragrance for my Halloween soap line, and the Absinthe fragrance oil hits all of those points. Smells great OOB and even better after saponification. Rices a teeny bit, but stick blends out with one or two quick shots. Otherwise no problems, and AMAZING scent retention."

Wow!

"I made a perfume out of this and it's my favorite! One of my favorite perfumes is tokyomilk Dark Bulletproof and this dries down to smell very close to that. But I like this better because it starts off spicy and lasts longer! I can't wait to try this in more creations. I can see this being a Unisex scent, even my husband loved it."

Not my favorite

"This fragrance is quite strong and its not my favorite smell. I'm currently testing my soy candles with this fragrance, I'm thinking of combining this fragrance with another one to help balance the smell before I give up on it, because I think the fragrance fits the theme of a candle I'm going for."

Two HUGE Thumbs Down!

"This fragrance oil not only slightly rices it seizes soap almost immediately. I soap in the low 90's and I've been making the same cold process soap for nearly 9 years and I know what slight ricing is - this was a joke. Highly disappointed and will not take the fragrance testing notes into consideration in the future, they obviously are not always accurate."

Don't hesitate to buy!

"I am making soap and bath bombs out of this and everyone who smells it has loved it! It's unique in a way that you don't see it everywhere. I've renamed mine Green Fairy so it's harder for people to catch on, but I've yet to find anyone who doesn't like this fragrance!"

Danna B. (5/5)

Smells sooo good.

"This scent accelerated and riced horribly! I could not smooth it out so I just glopped it in the mold anyway. The next day it looked so sad still. So I rebatched it and it smells soooooo good. My colors I chose made my rebatch soap turn into a lovely deep mossy green and I called it Green Faerie. Everyone who smells this scent loves it even though it smells nothing like absinthe and the anise finishing note kind of disappears some."
