Book Club Candle Recipe

Weigh 4 oz of Pillar of Bliss Wax into a pouring pot. Heat the wax to approximately 195°F using a double boiler.

Add 1–2 drops of red liquid candle dye and stir until the color is completely dispersed.

Allow the wax to cool to approximately 180°F. Add 0.4 oz of fragrance oil of your choice and stir thoroughly.

Continue allowing the wax to cool. Once it reaches 140°F, carefully pour the wax into one cavity of the plastic Basic Rectangle Mold. The lower pour temperature is necessary when working with a plastic mold.

Repeat the process for the purple book using 4 oz Pillar of Bliss Wax, 0.4 oz fragrance oil, and 2–3 drops purple liquid candle dye.

Repeat the process once more for the blue book using 4 oz Pillar of Bliss Wax, 0.4 oz fragrance oil, and 2–3 drops blue liquid candle dye.

Allow the candles to fully set at room temperature before removing them from the mold.

Carefully unmold each book. Using a clay carving tool, carve decorative details into the cover and spine of each book.

Create the appearance of individual pages by gently pressing the notched edge of a screw along three edges of each book, leaving the spine edge untouched.

Use a metal skewer to carefully poke a hole through the center of each book from top to bottom, creating an opening for the wick.

Thread the wick through the hole, pulling it through until the wick is properly positioned in the center of the book.

Repeat the detailing and wicking process for all three books. The finished candles can be displayed individually or stacked together to create a colorful stack of books.
