Cold Process Soap Frosting Recipe

6. Hand Held Mixer with beaters or whisk attachments

7. Total Recipe Weights:

8. 129 grams of water

9. 53 grams of Lye

10. 21 grams of Almond Marzipan Fragrance Oil

11. 170 grams of Palm Oil

12. 170 grams of Coconut Oil 76

13. FUN Soap Colorant- optional

14. Prep your work area and put on your safety goggles, mask, and gloves.

15. Step 1: Next, make your lye solution so it can begin to cool. Then, weigh out your palm oil and coconut oil 76. Allow this to set out and achieve room temperature. The consistency of these ingredients should be like soft butter. You are also looking for the lye solution to reach room temperature as well.

16. Step 2: While you are waiting for this to occur, using your hand held mixer, begin beating the palm and coconut oil together. Make sure you use your spatula to clean the sides and rotate the mixture to fully incorporate it. Keep beating until you can achieve peaks with the ingredients.

17. Step 3: Once the lye solution is at room temperature, you will be adding it to the soaping ingredients in small amounts (about 20 grams at a time). You will also be beating the mixture the entire time. Each time you add some lye solution, you will want to continue to beat the mixture until you are able to achieve peaks again.

18. Step 4: Then, add a little bit more of the lye solution; achieve peaks, repeat. You will keep doing this until all of the lye mixture is completely incorporated and the mixture is peakable. This will take some time.

19. Step 5: Next, it is time to add the fragrance oil. You will add all of the fragrance oil at once. Continue to beat the mixture until it is able to be peaked. If you are adding colorant, now is the time to add it and beat to incorporate.

20. The Soap Frosting is now ready to go! Whether you are scooping it onto your soaps, piping, or using a plastic bag; prep your frosting applicator. Finally, start to frost your bases.
